Botanical
HOME
My allergies for fluff and feathers won’t stop me from interacting with and loving animals. I often have a good connection with animals. Even if I knew this cat didn't understand me, I still asked permission and slowly approached her. Consent is important.
TOUCH
TASTE
Despite my food allergies, I love foraging.
It’s a skill I’ve learned from my mother and oldest brother. They used to hunt, gather and grow their own crops in order to survive in the jungle of Surinam. Even till this day we eat what we we grow in our backyard. I shared some of the fruit I found with the class, because sharing foraged food is more fun to me than finding it.
Garden
SMELL
At the entrance of the botanical garden, several fragrant herbs can be found. I smelled and tasted sage, verbena and different types of mint. I didn't take any pictures of the herbs at the entrance, I did take a pic of this horny goat weed. It smelled grassy.
This stream of water made me feel so calm and at peace. No one was around when I stood here and I stayed here for quite a bit.
HEAR
Each time I walked the same path, I discovered something new.
